About Us
The Schöller Endowed Chair for Information Systems, especially Digitalization in Business and Society, is part of the Institute of Information Systems at the School of Business, Economics, and Society of Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. We offer a start-up-like working atmosphere within a friendly team with very flat hierarchies, direct communication, and a high degree of freedom for each individual member.
In our research, we are committed to placing people at the center of digitalization. We consistently examine the interface between technology and individuals, whether as individuals, in a business environment, or in a societal context. Our focus in research and teaching lies in three areas of expertise: Future of Work, Digital Transformation Management, and Responsible Artificial Intelligence.
Your Tasks
- Support our research, particularly on the societal impact of digital transformation
- Contribute to a DFG project on the consequences of algorithmic personalization in information systems
- Publish research results in academic journals and at international conferences
- Assist in existing teaching and the administration of the chair, including coordinating degree programs in the field of information systems
Your Profile
We are looking for a highly motivated
Research Assistant (m/f/d)
to join our team starting April 1, 2025, in a full-time position (TV-L E13) with the aim of pursuing a doctoral degree. This position is initially limited to three years, with the possibility of extension, although this cannot be guaranteed. The following qualifications are essential:
- Excellent Master’s degree / Diploma in Information Systems, Business Administration, (Business) Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field
- Initial (student) experience in academic work, preferably with quantitative and/or empirical methods
- First practical experience from previous professional or study-related activities/internships
- Enthusiasm and interest in addressing academic questions in the context of digitalization
- A high level of responsibility, self-discipline, organization, and pioneering spirit
- Excellent German and English skills, with a willingness to conduct research and teach in both languages

About us
Above-average students who have already completed a module at the Schöller Endowed Chair can apply for the position of Research Graduate (m/f/d).
The Research Graduate program gives students an early start to an academic career. Successful applicants have the opportunity to work as a research assistant at the Schöller Endowed Chair after successfully completing their Master’s degree.
The Research Graduate program provides an introduction to research during the Master’s thesis. The Master’s thesis is written at the Schöller Endowed Chair in the field of “Digital Transformation” and then submitted to a scientific conference or journal.
The research graduate position is seen as part of the chair team at the level of academic staff. Therefore, participation in internal social events and close collaboration with the entire team will also take place.
Your tasks
- Master’s thesis and research in the “Digital Transformation” field of expertise
- Collaboration in the existing teaching and administration of the chair
- Collaboration in the research projects of the chair, possibly with various practice partners

Research Graduate “Digital Transformation” (m/f/d)
as part of a 50% position and with the possibility of a doctorate. This position is initially limited to one year. An extension and subsequent employment as a doctoral candidate is desired, but cannot be guaranteed. This requires above all
- Ongoing Master’s degree from the third semester onwards at FAU.
- Very good Bachelor’s degree in business informatics, computer science, business administration, psychology or a similar degree program.
- Fun and interest in solving scientific problems in the context of digitization
- First practical experience from previous professional activities or relevant internships or working student activities
- A high degree of responsibility, self-discipline, structure and pioneering spirit
- Excellent German and English language skills
